One Week Working at Allied Universal Security Services

Anyone taking the 14 hour UNARMED Basic Classroom / Assessment / Exam through Allied Universal, you are NOT getting paid for anything but the hours you work from your job site.
We were ALL told on the second day of class that we were going to get paid for this time. It's a LIE!

Its has been 7 months, 7 days, 9 hours, 54 minutes since Aug 4th, 2023 that I took the 14 hr classroom and I am still waiting for my money!

When they said that you are going to get paid for taking the CORE Training Lessons, what they are really saying is to take the CORE Training Lessons, during your working hours which are being paid by the client, on your job site. This is how you are getting paid for taking the CORE Training Lessons, your job site clients are paying for you to take the CORE Training Lessons.

About June 19, 2023, I stopped by the Washington Square Mall Security office and asked if there was any job openings. A short time later, William (Bill) Torres, Allied Security Services, came out and asked me to step into his office. We talked for a little bit and after we were does I asked him if he was going to hire me. He said Yes, but needed to post the job requisition online so that I would apply for it. After emailing Bill, thinking this was my requisition, his reply was: "No. That not my requisition. I will send you mine tomorrow." That NEVER happened. As the days goes by he would make the same false promises. It turned out to be just lies. He had no intentions of hiring me.

Tips on taking the CORE Training Lessons or any lessons in the Allied Universal EDGE®:
If you have good common sense. You will pass each lesson but don't worry if you don't have good common sense. The questions at the end of each lesson are setup for you to keep redoing until you pass.

For example: Your first lesson. Just hit the NEXT button until you get to the first exam question. Take the 10 question exam. If you fail just remember the answers to the questions you got wrong and retake the lesson going right to the end to the first question. During my training week I had to use the rest room. As I walk through a large room with about 8 managers just standing around talking and one almost back into me as I was walking by and they were not working, just talking. What's up with that? Anyone just standing around talking and not working is losing money for the business. We call this "Milking the Clock"! Wasting company time by doing as little as possible. 

One my first day training, on my job site, a headlight was not working on my patrol car. I made a comment about it not being safe to my trainer. There was about 8 to 10 patrol cars at the main location and nobody thought to replace it right a way. I used the patrol car for a week until Cory threated my job. At that point I felt bullied and threated so I just left Allied Universal.

Nothing was done to Cory as far as I know.

It looks like Allied Universal transferred an unqualify General Manager, Timmothy Agner from G4S. Just because Mr Agner worked in security businesses for years doesn't make him qualified for his position as General Manager. He should be still an Operation Manager.

Tim Agner is not qualified to be a General Manager, anywhere!!

The reason why there are so many jobs for Allied Universal is because those Security Guards quit.

I found the Portland, Oregon location has some disorganization problems. Nobody in management or upper management (General Manager) knows what is going on.

All Managers, Directors, Regional Presidents, Vice Presidents, Presidents, CEOs forgets who is paying their salaries. It's the Security Guards! You can always replace any "employee" even bad managers, general managers, etc. but you want to keep the "Security Guards" happy. Other wise, the business will have lots of turn overs and lose money by always hiring and training new "Security Guards". 

Allied Universal Security Services could be number one top security services if it has better employees and not worry about letting go employees who have been with the company for months, or years. Some employee get to relax in their position and think they can not be replaced but those employee who think this way are wrong. Some day the CEO will get smart and remove the bad employees and replace with good ones. Or maybe the problem is with the CEO. Maybe the owners should replace the CEO and see if there revenue will increase. It can't get any worse now can it?

What does a client pay for one security guard per hour? It cost them from $35 to $50 an hour. What the security guard gets paid from his company is $18 to $23 per hour. 
In an 8 hour day for one security guard a client will pay between $280 ($35 hr x 8 hrs) to $400 ($50 hr x 8 hrs). What the security guard will get paid is $144 ($18 hr x 8 hrs) to $184 ($23 hr x 8 hrs).
For just a month for one security guard a client will pay between $8,400 to $12,000 to the security company. What the security guard will get paid is $4,320 ($18 hr x 8 x 30 days) to $5,520 ($23 hr x 8 x 30 days).
It would be cheaper for a client to just hire its own licensed security guards and save money.

 A few weeks after I complained to Steve Claton. There were job postings for; General Manager, 1 Field Supervisor, 2 Operations Managers, and 2 HR personals for the Portland, Oregon location. This guy don't mess around.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it.> (onsite Manager at PGE on SW Blake St, Tualatin, OR, that I was on their "Don't Hire" list. I thought really! My job is threated by a Operations Manager and I'm on the DON'T HIRE List! Also, during my first and only interview I saw no black Security Guards, no female Security Guards, most Security Guards there were in their 20's and early 30's and none over 40 years old meaning he does not hire someone of my age 65. This tells me that Branden Reist may be bias.

 As you listen to the phone call, Branden, want me to think up a lie for a question he is asking me. His questions are of no value to the position of the job. The question Branden is asking me as a lot of variables so how am I suppose to think of an answer on a lot of possible variables. And what is the question that this customer may ask? His interviews are base on someone who is able to come up with a good lie. I am not a lier. So I am not able to answer any of his questions.

During my first interview with Branden back in July 2023. He and some other guy had guns on them during my interview. Am I a threat? Its a job interview, Branden! Why would there be two guys in the same room with one guy, me, being interviewed for a job? Branden's interview's are text book style. It might come from the time he was in the military.

Branden never did tell me, if any, of any, quantifications I don't have for the position I applied for. Why? Because there are none! Branden did not want to hire an old man! This may be close to a discrimination issue.

Thanks for hiring me! Sorry, that things did not work out.

After thinking about his for hours I think it would be best for me to move on. It will be less stressful for me because I will not have to worry about dealing with Cory, Operational Manager, Portland, Oregon.

Recap for HR and Claire:

Cory called me on Wednesday, August 2nd, at about 10 am. He said that I needed to have the "Allied Universal Core Training Program" done by Friday, August 4th by 5 pm or I will not be working that following week. I had to work on Wednesday and Thursday, and I did not have time to start the course. I ended up starting the course on Friday, Aug 4th at 10:30 am and finished on Saturday, Aug 5th at 5 am. I took a 5 hour break. In that 5 hour break was a 3 hour nap and a 1.5 hour nap. I guess I missed his deadline. So no work for me next week as per Cory.

Cory said there were 6 lessons but it turned out to be 20 lessons.

Cory said the 6 lessons take about 5 hours, he said it can be done in under 2 hours.

It says at the beginning of each lesson: "Every Allied Universal security professional is required to complete the twenty (20) lessons that make up the Core Training Program within six months of hire." So why did I have to finish this course two weeks after I was hired?

My question was never answered.

I will return my just washed uniform to the office and return the key card to the property manager at 5335 Meadows Rd, Lake Oswego. You can call them anytime, or I can have them call you, if you do not trust me. Did you know that I have a small locksmith business since 2005?

I did like my job site. Everyone there was so nice and helpful. I thought this would be a good part time retirement job for me as I am 65 this year and retired but because I'll have to deal with Cory...no thanks!

Oh well, I'll just move on...

Sorry to bother you again, but I had no idea that you was the Director of Human Resources at Allied Universal Security Services.

My Complaint against Cory:
1) Cory overstepped his authority
2) Cory lied to me (about how many lessons I needed to take)
3) Cory threated my job if I did not do what he ask me to do
4) Cory's actions is causing me mental stress

My request is to have Cory demoted to a Security Guard or Fired.
If my request is not made, no big deal, I'll just work for one of your completers.


The ONLY reason why I choose to leave Allied Universal Security is because of Cory (971-447-6918). And how he overstepped his authority and used some leverage, like telling me that I am not working next week if you don't do what I asked. I might be the only person that has brought this to someone's attention.

If Cory was fired or removed from the Portland, Oregon location I would be happy to return to Allied Universal Security and work at my job site AB724369 (Kruse Patrol, 5335 Meadows Rd, Lake Oswego, OR). Knowing that Cory and others like Cory was removed would be a less stressful work environment for me and others.

After having my own locksmith business for 18 years here in Oregon, I was hoping to join a easy going company and have a nice relaxing part time retirement job working at Allied Universal Security. Maybe I should just go fishing this week. It might help my mental stress and relax me.

Timmothy Agner, Steve Jones, Steve Claton,

When I got a call from a "Tim from Allied Universal" I had no idea who this "Tim" was. I thought this "Tim" was the same people who calls to see if they wanted me to work days that are not on my swift. The ONLY way I found out about who was "Tim" was because I searched his phone number, 503-367-8674, on the web and it came up as Timmothy Agner, G4S Security Solutions. I knew that Allied Universal bought G4S Security Solutions.


First: let's talk about proper telephone etiquette.

When this "Tim" called me on Friday, Aug 11th about 9:45 am, he left a voice message:
"This is Tim from Allied Universal, do you want a job?"

My option about his voice message was kind of a little unprofessional from a person who I found out was the General Manager of the worlds largest security guard company in the USA, Allied Universal.

What this "Tim" should of said:
"Hello, This is Tim Agner, General Manager from Allied Universal, Portland Oregon, please call me so we can talk about getting more work for you here with Allied Universal."

Now doesn't that voice message sound so much more professional and more positive?

In my mid 20's (1983), at one of 30 jobs I had over the years, I had to learn "proper telephone etiquette".


That beings me back to Cory. Please remember that a General Manager, Manager who is in charge of a location sets the tone of how the business is operating at that location.

Right now, the HR Director should be looking into Cory, Operating Manager.

Everyone at this job site is so very nice and so very helpful. To bad Cory ruined it and my expectations of Allied Universal Security.
